Everything you need to know about Core De Force before buying!

CORE DE FORCE FAQ's

I am sure many of you have questions about Beachbody's newest program Core De Force coming out at the end of October.  And I am happy to say that I have some answers!  Here are some common FAQ's to help you decide if this program is right for YOU.

I am a busy mom who has a full time and part time job.  It is important for me to find programs that get results quickly in a short amount of time.  I am also a woman with degenerative disc disease and bulging discs in my neck and back.  It has taken me many years to build up strength in my back so that I can do higher intensity workouts, but I am still mindful of what would have affected my back in the past as well.  So I will be approaching this with that in mind.

What is Core De Force?

Core De Force is 30 days of zero-equipment, core-defining workouts inspired by one of the most intense sports in the world - Mixed Martial Arts.  You'll use moves from boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai (marital art form from Thailand) to blast calories and fat and work your core from every angle.

It's a program that uses bodyweight training to sculpt your muscles and interval training for intense cardio burn.

Core is in the title for a very good reason!  Because every single move is designed to work your midsection.  Trainers Jericho McMathews and Joel Nichols teach moves using constant core rotational movement to target belly fat, strengthen your abs and reshape your body.  So say goodbye to the mommy tummy!  IN FACT, Jericho had just had her very first baby right before making this workout and she too needed to get rid of her mommy tummy.

Core De Force is also a lot of fun and you wind up feeling pretty badass while you are kicking and punching in your living room, garage, or even outside if you use Beachbody On Demand.

How are the workouts designed?

Each workout has a series of three minute rounds, just like a real boxing match.  In each round you will do combinations of punches and kicks, followed by a “spike.”  The spikes are high intensity moves to literally spike your heart rate and burn a ton of calories.  You will constantly be reminded to push yourself so you can “earn your break.”  You don’t stop moving until you hear the bell.

Who is the Core De Force workout intended for?

  • People who want to work their core and gain strength.
  • People who are tired of a flabby tummy and want to blast belly fat.
  • Anyone interested in mixed martial arts
  • People who like high intensity workouts.
  • People who don’t like to dance or learn complex choreography.
  • People who enjoy bootcamp style workouts.
  • People who like karate, tae kwon do, or other martial arts..
  • People who don’t have hours to spend in a gym to get results.
  • People who want a workout without using weights, bands or other equipment.
  • People who want a workout they can do in their own home.
  • People who are trying to lose weight.
  • People who want to feel more confident about themselves.

Is Core De Force for beginners?

Yes, IF you approach the workout with a fighter’s mentality.  It will be challenging, but that’s OK.  You need to challenge yourself to change yourself.  What’s nice about Core de Force is that there is a modifier who will show lower impact versions of all the moves.  But not low intensity!  (I’ll chat more about the modifier and share a video snippet below.)
We have an incredible modifier, Jessica, and she’s doing lower intensity options and versions of all the moves in the program.  And what’s really cool is on Beachbody on Demand you have a split screen view option so you can follow her the entire time.  So anyone just starting off on their fitness journey or if you’re coming back from a recovery or coming back from having a baby, she gives you so many different options it’s incredible. – Jericho McMatthews

Is Core de Force high impact?

Yes.  And no.  Core de Force is a high intensity workout with some high impact moves.  HOWEVER, there is a modifier on screen who will demonstrate low impact versions of all exercises.  If this had been me 3 years ago, I would have been following the modifier to make sure my back stayed safe.  You want to do whatever CHALLENGES you without HURTING you.  As long as the modifier moves challenge you, then you will get an awesome workout in!

Is there a modifier?

YES.  One of the cast members will show lower intensity modifications for all of the moves.
Having a modifier is a welcome addition for those of us who either don’t want to do high impact jumps and moves, or we just can’t.  With my back, I still have to be careful when jumping.  I am to the point where on most days I can do high impact, but there will be some days where I may have to follow the modifier.   You can and will get an intense and effective workout even keeping it low impact.  Remember, you can go low impact, but not low intensity.  You will still be kicking some booty!
Check out the modifier in this 1 minute video…

What is the Core de Force release date?

God's Plan is Always Better

Someone at work the other day was telling the new interns about the people who had once worked in the box office, where I started at the A.D. Players.  She said "Christy sat right there her intern year and I watched her plan her entire wedding right from that desk, twice!"  The interns looked puzzled...so I told the story that I have so often told again...but this time God revealed something to me that I had not appreciated until this very moment.

On Oct. 1, Joey and I will have been married 11 years.  Joey proposed to me our intern year at A.D. Players on December 6, 2004.  I went to work immediately planning my wedding.  It was going to be in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where Joey and I met.  The ceremony would be held at Petal United Methodist Church.  We were to be married by the Pastor of the church we both went to while in school at the University of Mississippi.  Our photographer was a friend of my best friend.  Our reception would be held at the Holiday Inn hotel and all of my close friends and family would be there.  The entire wedding was planned.  I had my dress, I had the location, I had the date and I was ready to go in July of 2005.... or so I thought....

It was the end of August and everyone was watching Hurricane Katrina, which was headed right towards New Orleans.  I stayed glued to the TV watching the horrors that were happening at the Superdome and I-10.  Our school was only an hour or so away from New Orleans so we had tons and tons of friends in New Orleans.  I wanted to just get up and go and help.  Communication with Joey's family was difficult because cell service was patchy.  But we finally got in touch and Joey's mom told us that it was really really bad.  So many things were destroyed.  They didn't have power for over 2 weeks.  She then told me that she did not think we could have the wedding there.

Woah!  The entire wedding that I had planned was gone.  And I had 1 month to plan a new wedding in Houston, TX where things were way more expensive.

As you can imagine, I turned into a crazed bridezilla.  I worked relentlessly trying to replan this wedding.  First, our friends suggested their church.  This particular church normally charges $2000 for someone to get married there.  We had only planned on paying $150 for the church in Mississippi!  How on earth could we possibly do that?  Well, the friend talked to the pastor and the pastor agreed to let us use the church for $150 and he would marry us!  Amazing.

Next came the reception.  Where on earth were we going to be able to have a reception on such short notice?  I get a call from my bosses assistant telling me that my boss would like me to have my reception at the Briar Club in River Oaks (which is a country club in a very well to do part of Houston).  My first reaction was "well, that is great, but there is no way we can pay for that!"  My bosses response: "You pay for what you were going to pay for at your other venue in Mississippi, and I will cover the rest."  What?!!!  I could not accept such a huge gift!  Especially from a woman who had known me for less than a year!  But after much persuasion, I accepted this wonderful gift that I will never ever forget.

Next, the photographer.  Sitting at the box office desk at 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon, I googled Houston Photographers.  A woman named Julia Bailey came up.  I contacted her to ask about pricing.  It turned out that she was displaced from New Orleans!  She needed work and agreed to do our wedding for $2000.  Her pictures are beautiful and she is now one of the top photographers in the US and charges over $10,000 for wedding pictures!

Our friends provided sanctuary flowers, videography, live music and support.  The wedding was planned again with 2 weeks to spare.

Then....... Hurricane Rita was headed right for Houston!  With 2 weeks to go,  everyone had to evacuate!  And where did we go?  To the closest family we had, Joey's family in Mississippi!

We weren't sure if we were going to be able to make it back.  Gas was still hard to get around that area.  At this point I was a mess!  I said "I'm bringing my wedding dress and we will get married in a field if I have to!"  But we did make it back.  We strapped gas cans to the roof of the car and made it back with a week to spare.

Now here's the thing.... at the time, I was disappointed.  Not at how God had obviously provided a wedding that was way better than I had ever planned in Mississippi.  I DID recognize that blessing for sure.  BUT....I was disappointed that my REAL friends and some of my family could not make it to the wedding.

At the time I had been at the A.D. Players for a short period of time.  I didn't know the people very well and my wedding was about to be filled with A.D. Players.  I had always imagined that my wedding would be filled with long time friends and family.  I was so disappointed.

But as I told this story to the interns.... something hit me.  Something that brings me completely to tears.

God KNEW what was ahead.  God KNEW that I would be spending a good chunk of the rest of my life here in Houston.  God KNEW that I was going to raise my kids here.  God KNEW that these acquaintances, at the time, would become my family.  And God KNEW that when I looked back on my wedding day, that the ONLY people that I would have wanted at my wedding were the EXACT people that were there.

I didn't know it at the time.  I didn't see His plan.  I didn't see this HUGE BLESSING that I am now able to see.

God knew that 11 years later, I would have wanted those exact friends there at my wedding.  The friends who have supported me, prayed for me, cried with me, helped raise my children.  The friends who I consider my Houston Family.

It took me almost 11 years to see the beautiful thing that God did for us.  It took me 11 years to see that one example of just how much God loves me.

Quick, Easy and Clean Roasted Chicken and Veggies!

Yesterday we had a busy day and the last thing I wanted to do was spend an hour cooking dinner. BUT I also didn't want to be tempted to go out and get something that would not be a healthy choice for our family.  So, we did this awesome quick and easy recipe.

The entire family loved it and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

Quick, Easy and Clean Roasted Chicken and Veggies

Ingredients:
***Note:  I doubled this recipe for my family of 4

2 Chicken breasts, chopped
1 cup bell pepper, chopped (any colors you like) (I used red and orange)
1/2 red onion
1 zucchini, chopped
1 cup broccoli florets
1/2 cup chopped grape/plum tomatoes
2 TBSP olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp Paprika

Optional:  Quinoa

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.

Chop all the veggies into larger pieces.  On another cutting board chop the chicken into cubes.

Place the chicken and veggies in a medium roasting dish or sheet pan.  Add the olive oil, salt and pepper, italian seasoning, and paprika.  Toss to combine.

Bake for 15 minutes or until the veggies are charred and the chicken is cooked. (because I doubled the recipe and cooked it in a dutch oven it took closer to 30 minutes).  Enjoy with brown rice, quinoa, pasta, or a salad.

We had ours with Quinoa and it was delicious!

21 Day Fix Approved Turkey Chili - ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS

This recipe is from the Fixate Cookbook.  For those of you that don't know what that is, it is a cookbook specifically for the 21 Day Fix program which teaches you not only how to eat clean, but also how to eat the correct portions of each food group so that your body can work correctly!  After my first round of 21 Day Fix I was amazed to find out how much better I felt on a clean eating plan.

I slept so much better, I had more energy, I didn't have the stomach issues that I was so used to having and I didn't get heart burn or acid reflux.  Not to mention the biggie!  I went from having 15-20 migraines a month to maybe 1 or 2.  I was so surprised at how much my body had been affected by the un-wholesome foods that I was used to putting in it.

Now, my entire family strives to eat clean (unprocessed, whole foods) the majority of the time.  Fixate is a great tool to help us.

When I first got the cookbook, I have to admit, I was hesitant to try any of the recipes.  BUT I have tried many many recipes and each time I have been blown away!  These recipes are sooooooo good.  I have told my husband that sometimes I feel like I could eat some of the recipes every day and be happy.

This turkey chili was so different.  It is not your typical Turkey Chili.  It has ingredients like red wine and feta cheese in it.  It has such an interesting taste and it was a hit with the whole family.

Turkey Chili
Serves:  8 (appoximately, 1 1/2 cups each)  Prep Time:  20 minutes    Cooking Time:  30 min.
Container Equivalents (per serving):  1/2  1    1     1/2 tsp.

1                           medium onion, chopped
1                           medium green bell pepper, chopped

1/4 cup                 chopped fresh cilantro

2.  Put turkey in the crock pot.
3.  Add onions, bell peppers, garlic, beans, tomatoes (with liquid), wine, chili powder, salt and red pepper.
4.  Cook on low for 6 hours
